Silver Memories helps people in aged care and those living with dementia live a dignified life through the power of music and images. We put older people first by providing their favourite music, hosted by respectful announcers who create social connections with their listeners.

Our unique broadcasting service plays 24/7 Australia-wide to residential Aged Care Homes via satellite. We play nostalgic music from the 1940s-70s that helps residents and those living with dementia to recall treasured memories. Our caring announcers engage with listeners through daily birthday and cheerio calls, creating social connectedness.

Silver Memories service includes monthly concerts and events, as well as a fully integrated lifestyle program. The program is accompanied by over 6000 still images that complements the listeners’ reminiscence experience totally ad-free with no disruption.

Music is a powerful thing. It’s in every culture. Everyone listens to music. It can spark little memories where they’re listening to it a song from childhood or from when they were at school.

It takes me back to my childhood. I can remember my mother died when I was three so my granny brought me up and my dad had to go to war. And singing music was something we always did together. I might be brushing her long hair. You get all those lovely feelings back.

At the start of the session, people may be very flat. They might not be doing much but as the music starts they get very involved. They start tapping their hands. Tapping their feet along to the music. They’ll sing along. They’ll really smile so I feel that as they become more involved with the music, their mood elevates.

They may not be able to say it but you can tell by their face the smile and glint in their eye you can tell by their expressions that they are happy.
